NYE 2017: Blind Pig Speakeasy at the Bottle of Sauce

This NYE we’re going back to the glory days of the speakeasy, recapturing the spirit of prohibition naughtiness and turning the Bottle of Sauce into a blind pig, hidden in plain sight.

With live music from the Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band (the best jazz and jump blues band this side of the 1920s!), electro-swing DJs, a bathtub gin bar, reprobate blackjack, and our very own boardwalk empire in the courtyard, this will be a truly spectacular night.

So, in the timeless words of Cole Porter, let’s misbehave!

Get your tickets from the bar: limited earlybird tickets available for £10; standard tickets £15. And once you’ve booked, stay tuned… we’ll be giving out a super-secret password to all revellers on the night. No password, no entry!

Sunday 31st December 2017, 7pm – late.

NYE 2017: Say goodbye to the Rickety Press… and hello to the Babylon Club!

This is not the Rickety Press as you know it: this is Miami, circa 1983, disco going strong, the parties heaving all night long. For one night only, our Jericho pub will be transformed into the Babylon, with throwback cocktails, retro treats at midnight, and DJs spinning eighties classics and funk disco all night long.

Come dressed as your 1980s alter-ego, ready to dance the night away in our back room nightclub. Fancy dress is a must!

Grab your £10 earlybird tickets before they run out; standard tickets £15. Buy ’em from the bar.

Sunday 31st December 2017, 7pm – late.

Tacos & Tequila Party at the Rickety Press – One Night Only!

We’re throwing our very own day-after-the-day-of-the-dead party at the Rickety this Friday the 3rd November, and you won’t wanna miss it. We’ve got super tasty Mexican street food, including tacos and nachos, plus special cocktails and a DJ.

Free entry. Food served 6 – 10, DJ 8 – late. One night only so don’t miss out! (We’ll tell you the date again just in case you’ve already forgotten in your taco-induced excitement: Friday the 3rd of November.)

Cocktail alchemy at the Bottle of Sauce

As part of this year’s Cheltenham Science Festival, we’re thrilled to be hosting a special series of demonstrations by scientist Dr. Suze Kundu at the Bottle of Sauce. Suze will be showing off some cool tricks that harness the power of science to produce a bit of cocktail magic, and answering some age old questions… like what difference it actually makes to shake, not stir, a martini.

We will, of course, also be serving up some of the cocktails behind the bar, so you can sample the results of all that experimentation after you’ve learned something new.

The demonstrations are free to attend – just get yourself to the private dining room at the Bottle for one of four lecture slots on Saturday 10th June: 19:30, 20:00, 20:30, or 21:00!

Cheltenham Jazz Fest at the Bottle of Sauce

Well, it happened: the Bottle of Sauce’s very first Cheltenham Jazz Festival weekend!

We hosted two days of events at the Bottle, and from the rousing sounds of the legendary Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band on Friday night to the jazz, blues, and booze-infused bliss that was Saturday, we loved every minute.

There was music (oh, there was music). There were dangerously delicious New Orleans-inspired cocktails. There were po’boys. There was more music. Particular highlights included the Kansas Smitty’s House Band, a DJ set from Cat in the Hat, and the indescribably delightful experience that was Mr Wilson’s Second Liners, complete with tie-dye T-shirts, playing nineties club classics in the style of a New Orleans funeral procession.

Some of us are still nursing our tender heads – the telltale sign of a successful party – but we’ll leave you with this video of Mr Wilson’s Second Liners doing their thing to induce envy amongst those of you who didn’t make it out and nostalgia in those of you who did…

Cheltenham Jazz Fest at the Bottle of Sauce

Every year Cheltenham plays host to one of the country’s best-loved jazz festivals – including an eclectic mix of more than 90 free performances in streets, pubs, and clubs all over town.

As you know, we never miss a chance for a knees-up, especially if food, booze, and outstanding live music feature, and we’re getting into the spirit of things with two major (free!) events at the Bottle of Sauce over the festival weekend…

FRIDAY 28TH APRIL: Join us for DJs, red hot live jazz and prohibition swing until the early hours! Featuring the legendary Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band at 9pm – not to be missed if you know what’s good for you…

SATURDAY 29TH APRIL: Our epic NOLA House Party kicks off at 12pm, with jazz, blues and booze flowing all day and all night.

The line up includes Mr Wilson’s Second Liners, Kansas Smitty’s House Band, a DJ set from Cat in the Hat, plus secret pop up acts throughout the day. We’ll also be serving up delicious po’boys, with a special New Orleans cocktail menu.

We can’t think of a better way to spend your early May bank holiday weekend, frankly!

Entry on both days is FREE, but note that once we’re at capacity it’s strictly one in, one out, so make sure you arrive early.

Oooh, another flash sale at the Rickety Press!

Yep, that’s right… our January Flash Sales party at the Rickety Press was such a success that we’ve decided to make it a regular thing! On the last Friday of every month we’ll be celebrating the weekend with live DJs + announcing extraordinary flash deals on food and booze throughout the night. Keep your eyes peeled to grab some superb bargains…
