Delicious December Specials

It’s December, and as a special treat we’ve got not one but TWO super specials for you to enjoy all month.

For the burger lovers among you, the Quirky Turkey: a little slice of Christmas dinner (Dodo style) in a brioche bun, featuring crispy fried turkey breast, sausage patty, melted cheese, spiced cranberry ketchup, pickle, lettuce, and dodo burger sauce.

Pizza aficionados, meanwhile, will rejoice at the Eat Your Sprouts: a white pizza with ricotta, fior di latte, basil, buttered sprouts, smoked pancetta, and lemon oil – so good even sprouts naysayers will find themselves swayed.

You know the deal: they’re here for one month only, so don’t miss out!

Christmas is coming.

We hate to keep banging on about it, but Christmas is coming. Time to batten down the hatches, stock up on mince pies and booze, and… make sure your party is booked.

We’re still taking bookings for delicious Christmas feasts for groups of eight or more at all three pubs. Dates are filling up fast though, so make sure you click one of the handy links below to book now, before it’s too late:

Book at the Rickety Press here.

Book at the Rusty Bicycle here.

Book at the Bottle of Sauce here.

If you want something to get you in the mood, here’s our menu… Christmas dinner Dodo-style!

New Autumn Menu

Our menu’s had an autumn spruce!

Plenty of old favourites remain, but we’ve added a few cracking new dishes, like the Silly Salsiccia (white pizza with fennel sausage, chilli and lemon oil) and the Dirtybird (crispy buttermilk chicken breast with buttermilk herb mayo), plus brunch updates and more. We see a trip to the pub in your future…

The Rusty Reopens!

You may recall that back in August, we shut the doors of the Rusty for a couple of weeks to spruce things up.

Well, we’ve spruced, and our beloved little pub is open for business again. Fear not: it’s the same old Rusty, but with some much-needed updates, including a shiny new Dodo-branded wood-fired pizza oven, a bigger, better bar, and more seating outside. You might also notice a few other details, like our amazing new bespoke beer taps, made from old bike parts supplied by Reg Taylor Cycles.

Check it out (or, better yet, stop by for a wood-fired pizza and a pint and admire in person!):

Rusty Summer Street Party 2017 (plus refurb news!)

We threw our second ever Rusty Summer Street party on Saturday 29th July. Like last year, we closed off a section of Hurst Street, rolled up our beer truck stage, and settled in for a day of live music, beer and food.

Luckily the weather cooperated and we had glorious, hot sunshine all day.

Ha, just kidding! In classic British summer style, it chucked it down – but people just pulled out their umbrellas, zipped their jackets up, and carried on. And it was pretty wonderful. We were treated to the sweet sounds of Rusty favourites including Sian Lloyd-JonesJohnny Payne & The Thunder, Death of the Maiden,  Little MammothsLittle Brother EliJoaquim & the Smoke Machine, and Zaia. We drank a bit more beer than we should have. We ate burgers and pizzas outside, even though to be quite honest it was a bit chilly and damp. And we loved every minute of celebrating with this neighbourhood that we’re lucky to be a part of.

And now we’re closing our doors for ten days, while our beloved Rusty gets a much-needed refurb. In the meantime, relive the street party magic:

The Rusty Summer Street Party 2017

It’s nearly here! The Rusty Bicycle Summer Street Party is back on Saturday 29th July. As we did last year, we’re closing off Hurst Street between the Leopold Street and Magdalen Road junctions and rolling in our beer truck stage for a day of live music, food, drink and general merriment for the whole neighbourhood…

To keep your ears happy and your toes tapping, we’ve got sets from Rusty favourites including Little MammothsLittle Brother EliJoaquim & the Smoke Machine (plus more acts TBA!). Oxford’s own Zaia will round the evening off, playing chill reggae with a soul/folk/rock twist.

And if you get hungry or thirsty, just grab your craft tipple of choice from our outdoor bar, pick up your favourite pizza to enjoy outside at our pizza hatch, or savour a Dodo burger, served on the street all day.

Here’s all the important info:

When? Saturday the 29th July, from 12pm.

Where? Corner of Hurst Street & Magdalen Road.

What? Food, drink, live music, good times.

Who? This is a celebration of and for the whole neighbourhood – all are welcome.

See you there!

Do’doughnuts are here to stay! (And more summer menu news…)

Do’doughnuts are BACK by popular demand… and they’re here to stay! National Doughnut Week was such a success that we’re adding doughnuts to our menu, so you can enjoy them whenever you fancy.

Speaking of which… yep, there’s a new menu coming, all spruced up for summer, including delicious new pizzas that’ll transport you to Italy in one bite, fresh salads, burger updates, and more goodies to see you through the season. There’s only one thing left to do… get yourself down to one of the pubs and try something new!
